Fundraiser
We are currently selling Support Volunteer Firefighters magnets at $5.00 each. This is a successful fundraiser and we thank every one who has sold and has purchased the magnets.
NTVFD November 2007 Chief's Report
We responded to 1 mutual aid call for Springdale fire department, a house fire.
We responded to 1 fire call, a dryer, which we saved the house.
We responded to a mobile home fire that was vacant. We had 2 calls on this same place.
We responded to a barn fire. It was fully engulfed by the time we arrived. Springdale gave us mutual aid, and Forestry assisted.
We received a notice from the Water Utilities that instead of sending a report in every 3 months, we now have to send one in monthly.
We have had 4 hoses bust on scene this month. They were old, and we need new ones. If and when the $4500 grant comes though, we will purchase new ones.
Training is still every Thursday night a 6:30. December 20, there will be no training, but we will enjoy a Christmas Party.
Roger Hager from 9-1-1, says that in the near future, our pagers will not work. They will be going to Narrow Band frequency. At that time our pagers and radios will need to be replaced.
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year!
Respectively submitted,
Austin Sandefur, Chief

Cedar Fork Substation
We are in the process of trying to establish a sub-station in the Cedar Fork area of our district. Land has been donated and we are waiting on all the legal paper work to be done. Fundraisers will have to be done to raise money for a building and two trucks.
Business Meeting
Business meetings are held the 1st Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. The public is invited to these meetings. We encourage everyone to attend.
Next meeting is December 4, 2007 at 6:30 p.m.

Chief's Report October 2007
We responded to 2 mutual aid calls: A house & brush fire for South Claiborne, and a house fire with Springdale Fire Dept.
We responded to 1 accident.
We responded to 1 brush fire.
We responded to 1 false alarm.
We responded to 1 Service call(smelled smoke, heat pump, no fire).
Truck #64 pump motor blew on a fire scene. It caught fire, was put out right away. Took truck and pump off old truck to Cumberland Gap for repair.
I attended the tabletop exercise made available through FEMA that would deal with a flu epidemic in Claiborne County. This is emergency planned preparedness training.
We attended the EVOC and Melissa Free Training that was required by the state.
We have LZ training coming up Nov 13 sponsored by Life Star. It will be at the Justice Center.
At the monthly Chief's meeting, Mr. Coots from the water department spoke to us. We now have to make a quarterly report on how much water we use. He in turn has to show where all the water has gone.
We visited the Alpha School and the pre-school children see the fire truck and blow the horn. We gave out papers to color, and a piece of candy to each one.
We will have training every Thursday night beginning Nov 1. All fire fighters are encouraged to attend. Any one else is welcome to come and watch or help in some other way.
I will be out of town Friday, Sat, Sun and Monday. Jack McMurray will be in charge until my return.

Haunted House fundraiser
The Haunted House was a great success. A BIG THANK YOU to all the volunteers that put this together and worked in the event. Many hours were given by all of you. Your talents made this the success it was. THANK YOU to the community for coming, supporting and encouraging us. We also had visitors from North Carolina, Knoxville and Pineville Kentucky. They all said the Haunted House was really good and worth the drive.
Serving our community
On Friday, October 26, 2007, we visited the students at the Alpha School in New Tazewell. Class by class, teachers brought their students outside to meet the fire chief, firemen. One by one the students were lifted up into the cab of Engine 62. They would blow the trucks horn as they sat behind the steering wheel. They were so excited. Each student was given a piece of candy and a picture to color concerning fire safety. We thank the staff a Alpha School for inviting us to come and share with the children.
