Chief's Report January 2008

We responded to a mutual aid call for Springdale VFD for a house fire.

We responded to 2 house fires. One of those fires, we asked for mutual aid from Springdale VFD, and Rescue Squad to refill our air tanks.

We responded to 1 vehicle accident.

We received most of our grant items from Jerry Moat. The rest will come later. We will spend the entire $5000 on equipment. Our equipment is on the table for all to see.

At the monthly Chief's Meeting, we were told they are in the process of getting another class started for Firefighter 1 & 2.

We were informed we now have 2 fire hydrants in our district. One in front of two gas stations, and one in front of Dogwood Heights Baptist Church.

Four fire fighters will be attending classes in Pigeon Forge on March 1 & 2. Reservations are made but we have not received word yet on what class we will get to take.

We received the countywide grant. Each department will receive 3 mobile radios and 4 hand held radios. We will need to replace 8 pagers by 2009 to meet the narrow band system. (9-1-1 will be switching to narrow band the first of 2009). Five of our newer pagers can be reprogrammed to narrow band.

Respectively submitted,
Austin Sandefur, Chief

Chief's Report for December 2007

We responded to one tire fire on Christmas night.
We were called to set up an LZ on Cedar Fork.

We had a total of 70 runs for the 2007.

Truck #63 is going to need a battery replacement very soon.

On December 14, we met Rep. Coach Roach at the courthouse. He presented us with a check for $5,000 to buy much needed equipment. This was from a Community Enhancement Grant that we had put in for.

The fire Chief's Association of TN is sponsoring classes in Pigeon Forge on March 2-3 2008. I signed up four to attend the classes. Cost is $50 per class, per student.

We enjoyed a very nice Christmas dinner and going away party for Tony Smith. We do wish Tony well as he goes into the Marines.

Training will be every Thursday night at 6:30. All fire fighters need to attend.

Thanks to everyone for all your hard work in 2007. I look forward to working with each one of you in 2008.
