Annual Election

The annual election was held at the fire station on February 5, 2008.

The position for secretary was open. Della Turner was elected to take the position. This was the only change made. The board members, fundraising chair person and the building maintance person remain the same.

A board oversees the fire department. We have a president, vice president, treasurer, and 5 other board members.

President: Deb Tong

Vice President: Carl Sowder

Treasurer: Bill Payne

5 other board members: Bill Payne, MB Wilson, Dennis Rager,

Debbie Fultz, Austin Sandefur, Geneva Coon

We have a fund raising chair person: Brenda McMurray

We have a secretary who keeps the minutes, but is not a board member: Della Turner

We have a building maintance person: Oscar Casteel

The board takes care of business and the fire chief takes care of the fire fighters

North Tazewell Volunteer Fire Department

NTVFD was established in 1997. The first meeting was held at Dogwood Heights Baptist Church fellowship hall. Jonsey Fergerson opened with prayer. A plaque on the outside wall of the fire department is in remembrance of Jonsey. Our first fire run was October 1998. Through donations we had purchased one old fire truck. The building was built and totally paid for by donations from fundraisers done by the community. The building was built by fire department members who donated their time and materials.
